3 Fitness Myths BUSTED!
They are all around us. As seen on TV, as read in magazines and as heard in gyms across North America are fitness myths.
Among the common fitness myths are:
- A person needs to specifically perform ab exercises especially crunches in order to get a 6 pack.
- It’s impossible to get a great workout in less than 1 hour
- You need big fancy exercise equipment to get a good workout
It is now time to BUST these fitness myths!
A person needs to specifically perform ab exercises especially crunches in order to get a 6 pack? Firstly, no matter how many crunches you get on the floor to do, you’re not going to design that dream stomach. It takes a lean diet and movements that focus on more than one body part coupled with cardio work. You can make your abs stronger, but to get them to show it takes more than crunches.
It’s impossible to get a great workout in less than 1 hour? It is very possible to get a great workout in less than an hour. Keys to this are to focus on multi joint movements (stop wasting time with the bicep curl) and combine resistance training with cardio during the workout.
You need big fancy exercise equipment to get a good workout? No equipment? No problem! Body weight exercises work! Also, most of those machines in the gym are not the best for your body in the long run. They limit range of motion and eventually can distort your figure.
